JOURNAL SECTIONS
Original Research Articles
Word Limit: Up to 4,000 words (excluding abstract, tables, and a maximum of 40 references)
Description: This section is intended for full-length, original studies that introduce new data or theoretical insights. Manuscripts should include a complete account of the study—from the introduction and methodology to results, discussion, and conclusions—demonstrating how the findings advance current knowledge in the field.
Evidence Synthesis Studies (Reviews)
Word Limit: Up to 4,000 words (excluding abstract, tables, and a maximum of 40 references)
Description: This new section is dedicated to manuscripts that rigorously collect, appraise, and synthesize existing research evidence. Authors should employ transparent and replicable methodologies—such as those outlined in PRISMA guidelines—to systematically review and, if applicable, quantitatively combine findings from multiple studies. Whether a study is a systematic review, a scoping review, or a meta-analysis, the article should include a detailed methods section that explains the search strategy, selection criteria, and data analysis process, culminating in a discussion of the implications for practice or future research.
Brief Reports
Word Limit: 2,000 words (excluding abstract, tables, and a maximum of 20 references)
Description: Brief reports provide a concise summary of new findings or preliminary data. Although shorter than full research articles, these reports must still present a clear narrative covering the introduction, methods, key results, and a brief discussion to communicate the significance of the work efficiently.
Case Studies
Word Limit: 2,000 words (inclusive)
Description: Case studies present detailed accounts of specific instances or events that offer unique insights into practical challenges or novel approaches in relation to human occupation and wellbeing. These manuscripts should clearly describe the context, the intervention or methods applied, the observed outcomes, and the lessons learned that may inform practice or further research.
Personal narratives
Word Limit: 2,500 words (inclusive)
Description: This format invites authors to share personal narratives related to their experiences. Written in the first person, offering a subjective yet valuable perspective for showcasing the importance of reciprocal influence between occupation and wellbeing.
Perspectives/Opinion Pieces
Word Limit: 2,000 words (inclusive)
Description: These submissions provide personal viewpoints or expert commentary on current issues, trends, or controversies within the field. Opinion Pieces are less formal, intended to provoke discussion. Perspectives could be scholarly essays that offer an indepth view on a specific research area. They discuss current advances and future directions often integrating information from multiple sources to propose new hypotheses or approaches.
Editorials
Word Limit: 1,500 words
Description: Typically written by invited experts or the journal’s editorial team, editorials comment on the content of the current issue, major trends in the field, or significant developments.
